Hadiat's wheelchair

Donation protected

Last week I was in Pakistan. I hired a driver for the day to take me around and heard the saddest story. The driver was called Tallat and has a 8 year old daughter called Hadiat. Last year she went to the well to get some water for her family. Her scarf got caught up in the well shaft while retrieving the water and pulled her in. She escaped with her life but is now paralyzed from her chest down. She wears a nappy as she doesn't know when she has soiled herself. If that wasn't bad enough, when she was in hospital the doctors gave her medication which required steam. The nozzle came loose and badly scalded her leg and subsequently needed skin grafting from her other thigh. Listening to Tallat telling me this absolutely broke my heart. I wanted to visit her so he drove me to his house. She is just the most adorable little girl!! She is just like any other 8 year old. She wanted to show me her room. The family doesn't have a lot of money but the thing that struck me was she had pink carpet! Carpet is a real luxury and she is obviously very well loved for her parents to save up enough money and to go without for them to buy her pink carpet. Pink walls and her toys. She is getting too big for her dad to carry her around and is desperately in need of a wheelchair. I said I was going to go back to the UK and save up money and send her a wheelchair. I put it on Facebook and was overwhelmed by the response I got off so many kind people, so I ask every single one of you to donate something however small. I spoke with her dad this morning and told him about what an amazing response I've already had.

Let's do this! Let's work together and get this little girl a wheelchair and give her back some independence and really make a difference. People have said its a lovely thing but honestly, from my heart I really don't think I'm doing anything amazing at all. It's one of them things your soul doesn't let you walk away from. You guys are the ones donating. You guys are the real heroes. You guys are the ones making a difference. Please share this status and let's attempt to give this little girl something of a normal life as we can give her. Much love and thank you xxx
