Bone Marrow Transplant
Donation protected
Hi my name is Luke Ferriter. As a lot of you are aware, I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia over two years ago at the age of 35. I was originally put on medication which surpressed the illness but in November 2021 to my horror, I was informed my last resort was a bone marrow transplant. Four weeks later, my beautiful daughter Bronte arrived in the world. Since then our family, including my sister Caoimhe who is my donor, have faced numerous struggles financially, physically and mentally. I am now receiving bone marrow transplant in St. James starting on 8 May which will leave me hospitalised for a minimum of 3 months and highly immunocompromised for over a year, if successful. As you can imagine, this has created a tremendous financial struggle for myself and my family who are living in rented accommodation.
I would highly appreciate any help offered to us as we try to overcome these challenging days and months to come.
