Let me introduce you to my beautiful sister, Susie Jackson 38, her husband Grant 41 and her three adorable children, Evie 9, Grace 8 and Elsie 17 months.
On July 4th 2017, Susie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She was 35 weeks pregnant. Five days later, baby Elsie was brought into this world 5 weeks early, and, within a week, Susie had started her treatment and her road to recovery. Susie had even arranged a, "no more Treatment Party" for 13th October 2018.
Sadly, on the 9th October 2018, Susie was told her cancer had spread and she had a brain tumour. The total devastation of hearing those words - "this is incurable" - is hard to articulate, and it still seems so very surreal!!
So why am I, her big sister, writing this 'GoFundMe Page?
Well, it has been Susie's Dream to take her children to Disney World in Florida. We were all hoping it would have been under better circumstances when Elsie was a lot older to enjoy the mysteries of the Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, EPCOT et al. But sadly, as time is now at a premium and because Susie wants to create memories, as any one of us would want to do in her situation, we have to work quickly.
The Jackson 5, as we lovingly refer to them, want to enjoy quality time together. This however is not a cheap trip, and, coupled to additional medical insurance for Susie, will take some extraordinary fund raising by some very special people.
So, anything you can do to donate to help Susie's cause, will be greatly appreciated.
We are all looking at ways we can raise the much needed funds to support Susie's quest. For example, my family and many friends are running the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday April 14th to help raise money for Susie and her family. Places are still available! What can you do to help? We can't wait to hear back from you on what you are committed to do.
We are however, operating on a tight time line. Our Goal, all things being equal, is for Susie and her family to travel to Florida in May 2019, hence why, we are asking for your support now.
We cannot express how important every donation is towards speeding Susie and her adorable family to Florida. It will mean everything to her. As we all know, the littlest smile, the cheekiest giggle and that special photo memory are so precious, and the memories it will provide to Evie and Grace especially, as well as Elsie, is totally immeasurable.
So, I implore and challenge you that you make it your mission to help Susie achieve her dream, whilst, at the same time, share this with as many friends and family as possible, in the hope that by spreading the word, we can raise as much money as possible to ensure Susie, Grant, Evie, Grace and Elsie spend some very precious moments together.
A word to the wise. Susie's children do not know that the cancer has come back. As a family we have decided that little minds do not need to know the severity of the situation so they can still enjoy their childhood whilst their Mummy is still doing well. We hope you can help us keep this confidence.
