Hello my Lovlies,
I am sorry I have not called some of you, but this has been difficult to talk about. On April 24th I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in which the tumor was tested estrogen and progesterone receptor+ and HER2+. This means the cancer was an agressive type and it was using proteins in my body to help grow quicker than most. I thank God every day that I felt the lump, was proactive by going to the doctor immediately, and caught it early before it spread to other organs or even into the breast tissue. However because of the HER2 diagnosis, the doctors have recommended a total of 1 year of chemotherapy. My team of doctors are confident that I have a great long term survival rate, as long as I finish treatment.
I do have health insurance, but as I'm sure most of you know, health insurance doesn't cover everything. I've also had to take lot's of un-paid time off from work to recover from surgery. Not to mention, the days ahead that I'll be taking un-paid for port surgery and other apppointments and tests before treatment begins. I also need to get tested for the BRACA gene, which sometimes insurance doesn't cover.
It's been a roller coaster of emotions and important decisions to say the least.
Above all this, I have an amazing support system and Shane has been incredible...I couldn't ask for much more. Life has given me a test, and I belive Life has also given me a new beginning.
It's difficult for me to do this, however I am asking for your help, even the smallest amount will help. I would be forever grateful, and I will continue to pay it forward as I always do. Sometimes your body betrays you when you're least expecting it and with your help, I know I will beat this.
