Randy Doud End of Life Fund

Donation protected
My brother Randy and I have been spending the last few days with my dad. It is apparent now that we may be counting hours that are left with him. He's fading fast, and we are beside ourselves on how/if we will be able to pay for even a proper funeral. If anyone has any suggestions please let us know.

AND A HUGE HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU THAT HAVE GRACIOUSLY GIVEN WHAT U CAN TO HELP US PAY RESPECT TO MY FATHER. It is so amazing to know we have friends and family That are selfless and truly care.

I know now every one of u who read this havenot met my father, and for that I am truly sorry. This man would break his back for anyone! He has the best sense of humor and. .. I can't even explain how great of a man he is. ...

This is a fund that I am setting up to help with the financial responsibilities that my family will face after the passing of my dear father. Please read on to learn more about my amazing father and his journey with cancer and other health obstacles he has faced throughout the years.

My father, Randy Doud, is an amazing friend, man, son, brother, and father. I could not have asked for a better Dad. He has remained an amazingly strong man throughout his life.

In October 2005, he received a double lung transplant, one of the first done in Texas. To this day, he is the longest living lung transplant recipient from his hospital.

After his transplant, my father could begin enjoying life again; a life that he spent mostly on the saltwater of the Gulf of Mexico, catching his speckled trout. He began playing tennis again, until he underwent a double hip transplant due to developing osteoporosis from the medicine he takes to keep his body from rejecting his lungs. Yet he continued on, nearly as healthy as ever.

The past two or so years have begun to bring some more obstacles. He developed Squamous Cell Carcinoma. He went through radiation last summer to try to kill the cancer while it was in just confined to his lip, before it had started spreading. This past winter he ended up getting skin graphed from his leg to his chin. My father was embarrassed to show his face, which is why he began wearing a medical facemask to hide his chin. (You can see this in the above picture of him holding my newborn daughter, Raegan, at our Christmas Eve dinner).

This January he began vigorous treatment using a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. Things seemed to be looking up. After numerous cuts, and removing his bottom lip and a portion of his lymph nodes, they told him that they couldn't find any more cancer.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma is known for developing into lung cancer, and as we found out only a week or so ago (too late) only a PET SCAN can detect it at an early stage. Basic chest X-rays do not detect it. Despite numerous suggestive symptoms, his doctors did not figure this out soon enough to save his life.

My father's cancer has spread to his lungs, heart, and his arm. He has very limited time left on this Earth, and leaving my brother and his daughter in a financially unstable situation.

We will also be responsible for paying for the services after his passing and have no way to do so. My father wishes for his ashes to be spread in the water next to his favorite fishing spot under Humble Bridge, and near "Randy's Bridge", which is an extension added to the pier at Red Dot.

My father has been staying with my brother, also named Randy Doud, for nearly the last ten years. My father helped raise my niece, Lorelai, since birth, and has gotten her off the school bus all this year. He has also helped with bills for the home my brother, niece, and he have lived in. The roles have switched, and now my brother has been taking care of my dad for the last few months as his health has dramatically began to decline.

Please help us raise the money to help my father be laid to rest in the way he has always wanted. Also, to help my brother remain in the home which he has shared with his niece and our dad, and cover the expenses that have begun to build up while my brother has been assisting my father and having to miss work.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO SHARE THIS WITH ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK, AND ALSO ANYONE ONE ELSE IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU BELIEVE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP!

Thank you,

Michelle Doud (Punkin)
