Chris was first diagnosed 2/10/2010 with oligoastrocytoma stage 1 and the tumor was the size of a lemon. Dr. Egnatchik and his team resected most of the tumor. He did his first round of radiation therapy at Roswell Park Cancer Institute nstitute, Buffalo NY. Shortly thereafter he started chemotherapy pills for one year, all the while holding down a full time job.
After a few years of no new growth, a normal life and our wedding... we found a new tumor had grown again. Chris had a second craniotomy on 8/8/2013. Surgery was a success.
However, new growth 2 months later, stage 3 brain cancer. The doctors at Roswell Park Cancer Institute instructed Gamma Knife Radiation and liquid chemotherapy and Avastin.
Come 1/7/2014, we were told the tumor had shrunk. It wasn't visible on an MRI. The treatment was working! Yay!!
On 5/16/14 we got news there were subtle changes that were happening with the cancerous tumor and we needed to act fast. The current symptoms were from this new change of behavior.
Chris is set for another round of radiation therapy at Roswell Park. 5 days a week for 5 wks. He is also on Chemotherapy pills again.
What you may not know: Chris suffers from short term memory loss. I work closely with him to help regain his memory. He also has seizures and his left arm & leg are weak, so he cannot walk too far, and this our dear friends and family is a result of why he can no longer work or drive.
I work from home, so I can be with Chris. But since Chris is no longer able to work, our budget is in need of assistance. We need help with medical and everyday bills.
