Road to Nationals

When I was three years old, my mommy bought me a pair of cleats and shin guards and signed me up for pee-wee soccer. I was tiny, and had no idea how the game was supposed to be played, but I had a blast. After a few years of playing, she realized I had a bit of talent and made the decision to move to the next level. Soccer became more time consuming and much more expensive, but my mom made it happen. I know there were times when she felt we couldn’t afford to pay for soccer anymore, but she made sure I got to keep playing. Year after year, my mom figured out a way to pay for it and make arrangements for all of the travel. She has been a permanent fixture on the sidelines cheering me on (in the extreme heat and extreme cold) and has always been my biggest supporter.
Now, here we are, thirteen years later, and I have been invited to join our club’s top team to compete in a National tournament in Indianapolis. This is a huge opportunity for me, not only to compete at a National level, but it will allow me to play in front of college coaches from around the country and help me on my way to securing a spot on a D1 college team. More than that, playing with this team and competing at the National level is a way for me to show my mom that all of those dollars and hours spent over the last thirteen years have been worth it. I have been saving and want to pay my own way for this trip, but need a little help getting there. If you are able to contribute to my trip to Nationals, I promise I will play my heart out and do my best to bring home a win.
