We have a little boy named Khye Isaac Freeck; he was born on the 16th February 2013 with a leg condition called Fibular Hemimelia. This condition is a very rare (one in 40,000 births) and means he was born with one leg shorter than the other, a deformed ankle and only a 3 ray toes and narrow foot.
To expand on our story we found out about this condition at 18 weeks pre-birth and it was unknown to what the problems were or even what was wrong. We then began our research and when Khye was born, we were advised the condition was called Fibular Hemimelia, Khye’s foot and ankle was also deformed, with only three toes on the foot and ankle turned.
Following an exhausted search in Australia for a surgeon that could fix the problem we had with Khye, we were told that Amputation would be the best outcome, two Surgeons said they would attempt some surgery but with limited success.
After several months of research by myself, We have found the only one surgeon that carries out this type of surgery and is a world specialist in this field is Dr Dror Paley, he works out of St Mary's Hospital (Paley Advanced Limb Lengthening Institute) St Marys Medical Centre 901 45TH ST WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33407.
This surgeon is one of two in the world that treats this condition. We were advised by Dr Paley via extensive communications and visit to the Institute, Khye would require Leg Lengthening and a Super Ankle Procedure, and this required a 3 month stay in Florida USA to complete the surgery.
As you can imagine these types of operations are not cheap and the costs involved for the operation in the US was in the vicinity of $180,000 plus living expenses for the three months while we stayed for the post-operative care. Khye will require Physiotherapy three times per week when we return from the US, Khye will require another leg lengthening when he is around 7-8 years of age and another one when he is 15 years to correct the final leg length shortage.
We are hoping to achieve this amount by the end of the year 2014, so Khye can have his first operation in January 2015. Therefore I will be holding fundraising events throughout the year to try and help with the expense.

With everyone’s support and help, we know we can make this happen and save Khye’s foot!!! Please remember no amount is too small we sincerely appreciate your donation.
