Vampires Suck, So Does Cancer - Help Jo!

Donation protected
Our close friend, Jo (epnebelle), recently got the news that no one ever wants to hear; a diagnosis of Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer, which has spread to her lungs. Anyone who knows Jo can guess that she was “very displeased” by this news. Adding to the concern of fighting off the aggressive disease is the worry of paying for expensive treatments (chemotherapy likely followed by surgery and other treatment options) on top of the everyday expenses of living in NYC. And as if that wasn’t enough, Jo’s treatment and recovery schedule has called for a drastic decrease in her monthly income, making it difficult to cover basic bills (rent, utilities, groceries, etc.) She is unable to work.

This is where she’ll need the help of her friends from all over the world (shout out to NYC, LA, Alabama, Texas, Vancouver, Twihards, Soap fans, ER fans, original Rentheads and everyone in between)! In order to assist Jo with paying her mountain of bills, we are asking for donations, no matter how large or small. Every little bit will truly help!

If you know Jo personally, you know what a fun, witty, hysterically opinionated, resilient, intelligent, loyal, and extremely giving person she is. A portion of her weekly paycheck is used to send care packages to the children she sponsors in 3rd world countries around the globe. She proudly displays photos of these children showing off their new duds as if they were her own kids.

For those who know Jo as a fan, you know that this girl will go to any length to (politely) get a perfect shot of her favorite celeb - or with them, for that matter - to share with fellow fans. And she is always the first to dig out the newest issues of magazines at the newsstand, racing to her computer to scan new articles and images to share with the rest of the fan base. Jo has also helped many of her actor friends with their fan clubs and fan mail, bridging the gap between actor and fan.

I think we can all agree that Jo is quite a character. Her friends describe her as the Asian version of MTV’s Daria. And Jo can out speedwalk anyone. Put her next to a Kenyan in the New York Marathon, and she’ll cross the finish line first, probably with a couple of new magazines she’s picked up along the route. Jo has rules for what is required to gain credit for finishing an Ultimate Feast at Red Lobster; You must finish at least 2 Cheddar Bay biscuits, eat no less than ¾ of your salad, and don’t rule out dessert. And if you accompany this girl to the Chinese buffet, bring a tent. You’re going to be there for a while - especially if crab legs or ginger lobster are on the menu. Want to go to American Girl Place for a meal? Jo's your girl!

Of course, we all have our own delightful and hysterical memories of Jo, and I’m sure we’d all love to make many more in the future. There is a book entitled, “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child,” and from what I hear, it also takes a village to fight off the Big C. We want Jo’s energy to be spent fighting off her illness, not worried over falling behind on her bills, so we will appreciate any donation, no matter the size, as it will make a huge difference in Jo’s life. It’s never fun to ask for money, but this is the best way we can support our friend.

Thanks for joining us in this fight!
