Bring Phil Home

Donation protected
My uncle Phil was in a hit and run motorcycle accident last Friday . He was getting out of a gas station when a guy hit the back of his tire and caused my uncle to lose control of his motorcycle . Luckily he made it alive after being dragged on the street until he was finally able to let go of the bike and rolled himself out of traffic but unfortunately he lost his left foot and broke his femur bone in 3 places. My uncle was transferred to the trauma center where he had an emergency surgery for 5 hours . When I met with the nurse and surgeons assistant they said they could not believe he made it alive. In order for the surgeon to put my uncle back together he had to remove a portion of his leg and put rods in his femur bone. My uncle has now been transferred to a rehabilitation center where he will learn how to get around in a wheel chair until we can get him a prosthetic foot and learn how to walk again. Prior to his accident my uncle lost his home in a foreclosure, job and is recently separated from his wife. My aunt took him in and let him sleep in her living room on the couch until he could find a place of his own. The social workers will not release my uncle until we can provide a home that will be acceptable to his handicap. My aunt works 2 jobs making minimum wage. We are asking for help to raise money to get him a bed to sleep in and make the home wheel chair accessible and possibly a prosthetic leg if the insurance does not pay for one. This adjustment is not only something my uncle needs to get used to but also the family. This has been such a traumatic event and has left everyone feeling hopeless. We are tying to support my uncle in the transition but unfortunately the funds are not there. We are asking everyone friends, family, co workers, friends of friends and family of family to give a helping hand.  If we don’t do this then my uncle will be placed in a nursing home and that is something my uncle is not emotionally prepared to do. This accident and the loss of his foot has left him feeling sad, depressed, uneasy and hopeless.  We are asking please even if its a $1 to help us raise funds so that he can come home and be with the family where he can get the emotional support he needs to get through this tough time in his life.
