PLEASE HELP MY BEAUTIFUL SISTER FIGHT LYME!
As some of you already know, my sister Jackie has been battling Lyme Disease for the past 3 years.
About 3 years ago Jackie married the love of her life. She was a single mom to Sophie and her husband Mike was a widow with 2 wonderful children of his own. Jackie always worked to support her daughter and always dreamed of being able to be a stay at home to help the kids and especially help Sophie who has a learning disability. Her dream came true thanks to Mike who wanted the same thing. Jackie had never been happier and Sophie was soaring in school with the extra help Jackie could give her. Then a few months later she started to feel extremely tired, dizzy, feverish and ached all over. She went several doctors who told her she had possible MS, cancer, fibromyalsia, and finally chronic fatigue. She lived for over 2 years thinking it was chronic fatigue . Her health was fading fast and she couldn't even get out of bed most days and could not think clearly. Luckily, my other sister Katie insisted she went to a Lyme specialist in San Francisco where she finally got a Lyme diagnosis. We were relieved to finally have an answer to her illness but didn't realize the financial burden it would cause on her family. We were shocked when we found out insurance wouldn't cover the medical bills. Just for an hour visit they charged $800.!!! To do an hour phone conversation is about $450!! Plus all the medicine and herbs she takes every month is about $1000.00 and on top of that she sees doctors at least 3 times a week for Lyme related symptoms. Because her disease is so far along due to the late diagnosis it will take at least 2-3 years to complete treatment. It is a horrible disease and we have seen her suffer for too long. It has even caused her to have seizures and she is no longer able to drive. For those of you that know us, we are a very close family and Jackie means the world to us. She just wants to get her life back so she can be the daughter, sister, friend, wife, Aunt, and most important, the mother she once was able to be. Please help her fight and win this battle. Any donation is a huge blessing and a step closer to her becoming "Jackie" again.
