Hello Everyone, Robin and I, are reaching out on behalf of Jessica & Anthony Osso. As most of you know, their adorable boys arrived on January 19th (10 weeks premature). Bryce Cameron (2lb 6oz, 14.5”) and Wyatt James (3lbs, 16”) were born at 30 weeks and 2 days.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride of growth and medical setbacks. Wyatt was well enough to go home on March 3rd and Bryce on March 18th . Soon after getting both boys home, Jessica had to have her gallbladder removed. Just when they were trying to adjust to this new family dynamic, things took a turn and Bryce ended up in the ER and diagnosed with Group B Strep Bacterial Meningitis and admitted to Albany Med for what was supposed to be a 14-day admission to receive a course of intravenous antibiotics. Things took a turn and he had 5 seizures…his longest was 6.5 minutes. They’ve moved him to the PICU. They have since done an MRI of his brain to determine if there are any complications or brain damage and will be placing a PICC line for what is going to be a lengthy stay. They’re in it for the long haul now. Not just 14 days.

UPDATE: 4/14/24: Bryce has some inflammation on the top of his Brain so they are starting him on steroids. The doctor said blood vessels could be getting pinched, a stroke or lack of oxygen. There may or may not be damage but they won’t know until they start the treatment and monitor him. It’s the part of the brain that controls motor skills. There is more of a chance of recovery at his age since he still has so much growth ahead versus a 50-60 year old.

In these circumstances, loved ones can often feel helpless when it comes to making these situations feel lighter.
