Mission Trip - Papua New Guinea

One of my many goals for 2014 was to be part of a mission trip where I could reach out to others, give back of my time and be humbled by others' experiences and gifts. At the beginning of this year, our church announced several mission opportunities throughout the year. Only one spoke to my heart and it was a big one 9,000 miles from home: PAPUA NEW GUINEA
I first learned about Papua New Guinea nearly 8 years ago when a friend of our family, Diana, became our daughter's nanny and then Godmother. Diana was born in Papua New Guinea and spent her early childhood years there along with her two siblings while her father worked as Country Field Director for the Lutheran Church for fourteen years. It was very much a part of their lives. They have since become family so I feel a deep connection to the region through their roots.
When I read the dates of the trip, it coincided with a very critical deadline of JAI’s so I decided this was not the time. A couple other obstacles were in my way as well. Within the next two weeks, all of those obstacles were "miraculously" removed leaving only myself in the way of saying yes. 2014 is also my year of getting out of my comfort zone so this fits right in with that goal!
What is the Mission?
· To witness the roll out of portions of the New Testament that Harborside Christian Church has financially supported
· To encourage the mission teams on the ground that are serving in PNG
· To serve in various mission related activities as determined by our team’s skills
So I am now at that challenging stage of asking for financial support to fund our mission. If you would like to support me raising the $5000 for my financial requirements please make a donation today. You can also support our 10 member team through prayer and moral support over the upcoming months!
