Frankie's Bile Duct Cancer Battle

Donation protected
My doctors said, "You are a miracle." I believe I am because luck had nothing to do with my recovery from a near death experience.  I believe the prayers of hundreds of people, not only through Facebook, family, friends literally all over the world made the difference and I truly believe in the power of prayer.

In May 2012 I turned 70 and 2 weeks later I was told I had Prostate Cancer. Shortly after I began chemo and radiation therapy. During treatment I turn jaundice and another form of cancer was discovered. I was referred to the Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami for an operation called a Whipple. My chest was cut open, but immediately closed. I was told my cancer was in the Bile Duct and wrapped around the artery and vain to dangerous for an operation. This cancer is: Cholangiocarcinoma that Is a cancerous (malignant) growth in one of the ducts
that carries bile from the liver to the small intestine. I was referred to an Oncologist.

I selected an excellent oncologist also at the Sylvester Cancer Institute, but here in Fort Lauderdale. I began chemotherapy in September 2012 and was doing rather well until I began having high fevers (101.3+). I was referred to my gastroenterologist for a Bile Duct Stint as well as an infectious disease doctor due to Septicaemia (Ecoli in the blood). This began a series of several similar events until March 2, 2014.  On that date my temperature was 103.5 and I was taken to Broward General Hospital. My doctors were sure I would not make it and my family and friends
were called. Somehow by the grace of God and lots of prayers, I made it. (My physician later told me one doctor foung the source of the problem and he embolized the artery that was bleeding in my stomach.)  I continued to improve and was transferred to Broward North Hospital for physical therapy.

My health problems however did not improve and I went through several procedures until at last an infectious disease doctor inserted a "pic" in my side to drain the liver. After that I began to improve and returned to physical therapy and after 64 days of hospitalization I was released to go home on May 5th (2 days
before my 72 birthday).

The photo shown was taken a few days before my release from North Broward Hospital. I am continuing to make progress and see my physicians now for follow up. Soon I hope to see my oncologist again to see where we go now.

Needless to say, it has been nearly impossible to meet my financial needs and I have fallen seriously behind in meeting my obligations that has caused additional stress in my life which is unnecessary. I hope and pray that you can find it in your heart to help.
