A Heartfund For One- Malawi

Donation protected

It has now been one year since I first started working here in Lilongwe, Malawi for ABC Christian Academy. All the adventures that started out from a little call from a BIG God have sent me fervently into a new culture with a wide variety of inspirational faces. I never thought this year would turn out the way it did, that some kids would ask for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Though there is always your interrupted bacterial infection, malaria, fungal rash and crazy spider/ mosquito episodes nothing could have prepared me for what God had in store with the bus accident I was involved in April 15, 2014. (Ecclesiastes 3:11- “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”)

11 people (3 ABC College Students, 2 ABC Academy Teachers, 4 orphans, a married couple who ran a orphanage sponsored by Children of the Nations), 2 seatbelts, 5 flips from a popped tire , 3 thrown from the car, no one dead…= miracle.

Coming out of the ashes, I see a part of God I have never seen before. I realize this life was never mine. It is HIS. I am rooted in the core to believe that God will have His way with us… that through fire we acknowledge His being and presence, that He will get the glory, and that we are meant to do powerful things in His name. We are called to live in the valley and touch the mountain top, to spread the good news of a Savior who can relate to His people, who died and rose again not as a man but as Christ.

Isaiah 43:2- “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

Zechariah 13:9- “This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'The LORD is our God.’’

Job 23:10- “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

I will be working as a 5th grade and 9th-10th P.E. teacher for the 2014-2015 school year in Lilongwe, Malawi. I will also be taking classes at African Bible College for Master’s Program in Divinity. Some outside ministries I’m involved with that have touched my heart is an orphanage sponsored by Children of the Nations which involves tender-hearted children basking in everyday life with the biggest smiles I have ever seen; the kids are taught a lesson from the Bible, engage in singing songs and playing games while at the end of the day we end with prayer. I also enjoy coaching kids’ afterschool at ABC Christian Academy where sports are introduced to a nation hungry for teamwork, healthy competition, and accessibility to learn new stages of growth in skill. All of these ministries are flourishing with the intention to bring a child’s life closer to Jesus Christ while gaining an education.

The outpour from this orphanage sponsored by Children of the Nations shows itself in James 1:27, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” I want to see these boys and girls change the World.

Here are some rascals that kept my coaching hat off! They played hard and fast but most of all they played as a team.

Discovering God’s canvas with the people you work with is incredible.

Encouraging the students you teach and see each day is a true blessing. These three boys (Limbi, Mzati, Shingi) all have bright futures, can’t wait to see these boys grow-up into godly men.

That one guy who sticks out too much and is a little too weird to approach…

A 6-hour bus ride to Blantyre, Malawi for a all -day swim meet requires the boys and I to result to high measures since famished... KFC it is! And we don’t take it lightly.

Next year I will need help in fundraising with added prayer once again. I have suffered with donations this last semester as part of my low payment has been taken to cover expenses. I need your help to continue this ministry to the fullest! I am trying to raise money for my airfare ($2600 round-trip) as well as money for food ($100 a month), house utilities such as gas, rent, water, electricity ($300 a month), transportation ($75 a month), healthcare expenses ($50), school supplies ($150), community outreach ($50 hopefully something each month), payment for gardener and housekeeper (this opens doors for the culture to be paid well… I wouldn’t get a housekeeper or gardener, not my style yet it is needed $100 a month), and not to mention other expenses for using the phone, travel, and student loans from America. This is all needed to help keep me here teaching and ministering for the 2014-2015 school year. Time is essential due to the fact that I must be in Malawi, Africa by August 4, 2014.

I am grateful and humble to once again be able to have the chance to serve this country and its people as best possible, as Christ has done for all, “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” –(Matthew 20:28). When love from God is administered to the human heart nothing or no one can separate us from this masterpiece. Be a part of the journey and let’s do this together!

John Wooden- “Make each day your masterpiece.”

Romans 8:38-39-“ For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7- “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

In His Glory,
