Coon Church, Kilkenny - Knock Apparition Mural

Donation protected
Notice from the Committee

We are recreating an outdoor mural of the Knock Apparition on a wall in the grounds of our church in Coon, Co. Kilkenny. The Knock Shrine is Ireland’s International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine. The silent apparition that appeared on the gable wall of the church in Knock in 1879 was described as having the Eucharistic Lamb of God in front of a Cross, standing upon an altar, surrounded by angels. To the side stood Our Lady with Joseph on her right side and John the Evangelist on her left.
We are delighted to have an artist originally from Coon, Marley Irish, known to many of us and an outdoor artist Eamon Byrne to undertake and create this project. The preparatory work for preparing the wall will be undertaken by Ger Doyle.
The estimated cost is €5,000. We are appealing to everyone connected to the Parish in anyway, at home or abroad, and anyone outside of the parish who has interest in this project, to contribute to the fundraising.

Thank you.
