Starting Over

As many of you know, my brother Charlie Barnes and sister in-law Haley Barne's peaceful lives turned upside down recently after the loss of their home, all three vehicles and, one of their dogs to a massive fire on 02/03/2018 in Danville, Ga.

It has been a surreal time for them both. Thankfully they both woke up and got out in time, which is absolutely the most important part of this whole experience. Right now, they are trying to keep all of the "what ifs" out of their mind. They are pretty sure the fire was started due to a shortage in the pipe warmers under their single wide trailer.  

While they are devastated that the experience of a house fire will be etched as one of their biggest memories, they are consoled by the fact that these incredible acts of kindness will likely be a much more vivid memory.

It has been so important for them to see all of the goodness in the world in the middle of such a frightening time of uncertainty. The compassion and generosity that has been shown to them started while the fire was still burning and continues each day.

It has been overwhelming for them both. Friends and family brought them toothbrushes and clothing that afternoon when they hadn't even processed the fact that they didn't have theirs anymore.


They certainly have a long road ahead, but it is so comforting to know that they are not alone. They are eternally grateful for everything the community has done for them. It may be a while before they get a chance to acknowledge friends, families, and first responders individually, but know they are truly humbled by it all. 


Any donation’s will be greatly appreciated, and I understand not all are able to give and only have prayer to offer. They need prayer more than anything right now as they slowly to begin to rebuild the life they started not even three years ago.
