Mission Trip to Jamaica

Dear Friends,
I have an amazing opportunity to serve the Lord for 10 days this summer in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I have been on several mission trips in Texas and surrounding states throughout the years, but I have never had the privilege of traveling out of the country. When I was first presented with the opportunity to take part in this trip, I was unsure about whether I should. Having never been out of the country, I was unsure what to expect, whether I could raise enough money, and honestly I was scared to leave my comfortable home to work in a part of the world with not nearly as much luxury as I’m used to. The more I thought and prayed about it, the more I’ve been sensing the Lord leading me to take this step toward becoming more involved in Christian service by helping others and not just focusing on myself. I am excited to say that I have made the decision to take part in this trip, and I cannot wait to see what work the Lord has in store for me.
I will be going with the Dallas MK College & Young Adults group which has been to Jamaica every summer for the past five years, and we will be working with a church in Jamaica called Teamwork. This year will begin with a focus at West Haven in a remote part of Jamaica. West Haven is a Christian run orphanage for Jamaicans with disabilities. We will have an opportunity to minister to the staff as well as those who live at the facility. We will also visit the Infirmary and care for the elderly. The majority of the trip will be spent working on homes in a few areas in Jamaica. While we are down there, we will be helping to build a new home from scratch in order to provide a family with a descent place to live.
Please be in prayer for me as I step out in faith. This trip will include many hours in the hot sun doing strenuous manual labor, so please pray for the health of myself and the group.
Also, prayerfully consider supporting me financially. Remember, no amount of help is too small! I need to raise about $1600 to cover plane tickets, room and board, and meals. Any additional support I receive above and beyond the base expense of the trip will go towards supplies and purchasing diapers for an orphanage that we work with. I will be leaving for Jamaica on July 28th and will be returning August 6th.
