LAUNCH LEXI ...We are conducting this campaign to support Alexis (Lexi) Pfeiffer as she pursues her college dreams. Lexi is one of nine adopted African-American handicapped children at the Pfeiffer household. She was born with Cerebral Palsy. She graduated from high school in May 2014 with 3.2 GPA. Lexi's parents, Erv and Pat Pfeiffer, who are now ages 70 and 66, adopted all of the children as infants. Six of the nine children are severely handicapped and will require assisted living to support their entire lives.
Lexi has been accepted at Dominican University in Chicago for the fall 2014 term. Her undergraduate major is Corporate Communications. Her long-term goal is to become a librarian, which will require a Masters Degree in Library Science.
Tuition is $29,960, room and board are $9100 and books are estimated at $1000 per year, totaling $40,060. Dominican University has awarded her $25,950 in financial aid and approved $5500 in Stafford loans.... leaving a gap approximately $10,000.
During her first year, Lexi completed most of her Core Courses, while working part time in the library 10 hours per week. She participated in the Dominican University choir and studied hard, getting A’s and B’s in her classes. Over the summer, she’s working at Delmar Gardens on the Green to earn money for her tuition. Her plans for her 2nd year include finishing up her Core Courses in the first half of the year and working on her in the second half she’ll work on the requirements for her English Major. She’ll continue working in the library and receiving financial aid of $17,225.00. She’ll still need to cover an addition $6,000-10,000.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 toward Lexi's college expenses... Room and Board. To date, we have raised 6,320. We need an additional $3,700 for the 2016 Fall semester.
