It is now 8 days post-transplant and we are happy to report that Hayley and Lisa are both feeling GREAT!
Hayley visited her doctors yesterday and received a perfect report. She still has several weeks of trips to NYC for doctors' visits to make sure that the kidney and she are acclimating well with each other, but her outlook is amazing and she feels wonderful.
Lisa is at home resting and being taken care of by her family. She will be back to herself and her regular activities in the next two weeks.
The Stamos family and all of their friends thank you for your support and generous donations to help Hayley during this time.

Hayley Stamos, a lifetime resident and high school teacher in Ocean Township is in need of our help. Like Selena Gomez, Hayley was diagnosed with Lupus. This autoimmune disease destroyed her kidneys as if they were intruders in her body. She was fortunate enough to have her dad donate a kidney that lasted 10 years, and then her mom's kidney which lasted 21 years.
The last 3 years, Hayley has been in chronic renal failure and on several donor transplant lists. She has reached stage 4 requiring a kidney transplant in the next few months.
The good news is her sister, Vasi (Lisa) Stamos Sperry will be donating her kidney. Vasi is a perfect 6 antigen match which means that this kidney will hopefully be the last one she will need. The surgery will take place March 27th at NY Hospital.
Hayley will require a car service to take her to NYC twice a week for the first 3 months. Public transportation will not be an option because she will be immuno-compromised during this period where she will be on high doses of anti-rejection drugs. It is not clear at this time when Hayley will be able to return back to work.
She has been on an unpaid medical leave since September 2017. It is disturbing that the private disability insurance Hayley has through a well-known insurance company, which she subscribed to 12 years ago to financially prepare for this day, is not following through on their agreement. Hayley needs to focus on getting better and not worry about the financial burden. Any small donation would be greatly appreciated.
