Vacation/other family needs

This go fund me is set up for a friend and coworker, Michelle Long. We would like to raise money to help her family after after several very difficult years. Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2011. She had a double mastectomy on April 12, 2012 followed by intense chemotherapy and radiation. She persevered through the pain, the sickness and horrific reactions to medication. She worked through the entire period as much as she could and documented the process with great insight, humor and humanity on her caring bridge site, check it out at the link below:

Michelle finished her treatment in 2013 with reconstructive surgery that proved to be very painful and difficult, but it was supposed to be the last hard thing,  the last step of her journey. Her hair grew back. Her family was rebounding from the stresses of the last two difficult years. 2014 was going to be the year of recovery, redemption, rejoicing. Relief.

In March of 2014, Michelle learned that her cancer was back and had spread to her liver, her chest, her bones and her lymph nodes. Her doctors immediately started her on a new and aggressive chemo treatment. Michelle and her husband Scott have three daughters – Camille is 17, Halei is 10 and Jocelyn is 3. Michelle is an incredible mom, her focus is always and everywhere centered first around her family.

In Michelle’s own words, from summer of 2012:

“Like thousands of other people dealing with a serious event, I've been taking stock of my life. The stupid mistakes, the common sense I've shown, the not so good choices I've sometimes made, and the really really good choices I've made... and while I would like to change some of my more bonehead decisions that ended up causing sadness or pain, on the whole, I wouldn't change me. Nobody's perfect but I think I was a pretty incredible stepmom and I'm a very good mother. Every major decision I've made since I was 20 was made with my kid's best interests in mind...and I am extremely proud of each of them and I will always love them, forever.”

Please help us provide funds to the Long family to help them in any way that we can right now - whether it be allowing them to take some time together as a vacation, to just fulfilling any needs.

Thank you for your consideration.
