Rainbows for Daphne
Donation protected
Sweet 6 year old Daphne was admitted to the ER in Winchester, VA on Mother's Day 2014 for a severe headache coupled with vomiting. After a CT scan at the hospital, her mother was told she was suffering from bleeding around her brain, and Daphne was flown via Medivac to Fairfax Hospital PICU. After further testing, it was determined that Daphne had a brain tumor the size of a chicken egg near her cerebellum. After surgery lasting over 15 hours, the family was informed that approximately 80% of the mass had been removed, and that unfortunately, the biopsy concluded that the tumor was cancerous.
Daphne was diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma Grade 3 (a type of brain cancer). Since then she has had three brain surgeries, several other procedures, multiple MRI's and CT scans, two rounds of Chemo therapy and two rounds Proton (radiation) therapy. Since September 2014, she has spent more time in Philadelphia than in her home in Virginia. Daphne is a fighter!
This fundraiser is an effort to help Daphne's mother, as she struggles as a single mother of three beautiful girls, with the overwhelming burden of hospital bills and time needed off from her work as a nurse. If you can find it in your heart to contribute, even if it's in prayer, it would be greatly appreciated!
