MTCW National Pageant - Free the Children
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
As many of you know, I was recently crowned "Miss Teenage Edmonton" at a The Miss Teenage Canada Provinical Pageant held in Calgary last February. With this title, I will be travelling to Toronto this summer to represent Alberta in the Miss Teenage Canada National Pageant. As a delegate in this pageant, I am fundraising to raise money for the charity of choice for the Pageant. This charity is "Free the Children".
Here is an excerpt directly from the "Free the Children" website that explains a little about the charity ... "Free The Children is an international charity and educational partner that believes in a world where all children are free to achieve their fullest potential as agents of change. We work domestically through We Day and We Act to educate, engage and empower youth to become active local and global citizens. Through our holistic and sustainable development model"”Adopt a Village"”we work to remove barriers to education and to empower communities to break the cycle of poverty."
Any donation you can make to this very worthy cause would be greatly appreciated. Although I have set a fundraising goal, my hope is to be able to far exceed this goal and provide as much help to these children as possible.
To put things in perspective as to the difference any donation amount can make to these children, I am including a rough scenario of how far these funds can go to those less fortunate than ourselves:
$25 Can buy a school kit for a child or plant ten trees in a school
$50 Can provide a health kit for two children or buy a goat for a family
$100 Can grant a loan for a woman to start a small business or provide clean water for a family
$500 Can provide a six month lunch program for a school or provide furniture and textbooks for a school
$1000 Can provide teacher training programs in communities
$5000 Can build a community well
$10000 Can build a school or a school room
So many of you have provided me with so much love and support throughout my journey this past year, that I cannot thank you enough. Please continue to support me, as I do my best to help these children.
Love Brianne
