My name is Billy Rose, and I have Stage 4 Colon Cancer.
Luckily, I have a wonderful wife, Loretta, and two beautiful kids, Cassidy and Billy Jr. Since my diagnosis, I have been on unpaid leave from my job, so, in addition to being very sick, I've also lost that income.
Pennsylvania is a "Right To Work" state, so, after 90 days I can be let go, despite my illness and its lengthy, expensive and painful treatment regimen.
Thankfully, I have qualified for disability, but full benefits will not be paid until open enrollment closes in October. Until then we have been paying bills with our savings, but it's not enough to last for the next 5 months.
Loretta works, but her income is not enough to cover all the bills. Still, she always cheerfully comes home to her full time job of taking care of the kids, and, now, even more than ever, taking care of me.
To say I'd be lost without her is an understatement.
Loretta wants to work more hours, but the job market is tough here in Northeast Pa. The $5000.00 we're asking for help with is to pay our monthly rent. We will try our best to manage the rest.
My wife and I have always worked hard and tried to give our kids a good life. We are not comfortable asking for help, but, because I am unable to work as I give all my effort to fight this disease, my little family is running out of options.
I have always tried to "pay it forward" in my life, and I will continue to do so. If not monetarily, then with helpful guidance, lots of love, and a good ear for listening to anyone who needs a helping hand.
