We need a tent

Soup for the Soul is a homeless ministry that was started in March of 2014 that is  located in Bristol, VA.   Our group of volunteers goes out and offers a free meal along with clothing and hygiene products on the 3rd Saturday of every month.  When we started this ministry in 2014 we were of course small with out startup utilizing a few pop up canopies, and 6x10 trailer, and serving ham sandwiches, soup, and coffee.  In only 1 years time we quickly realized what a need there was in the community for an outreach program to help the homeless/less fortunate.  We quickly outgrew our initial operational setup.   We now operate out of a 7x20 enclosed trailer, several pop up canopies, and a 20x30 tent.   We have grown from serving 50 meals 3 years ago to now averaging over 150 each month.  We have developed loving relationships with those in the community and they have come to rely on us being setup on what we call "Amen Corner" every 3rd Saturday.   We offer a variety of meals each month such as baked spaghetti, quesadillas, breakfast, burgers, subs as well as handing out clothing and hygiene donations.   This ministry operates 100% on donations of food, clothing, hygiene items, time, and money.    With that being said, we are in need of a new tent.  Our current 20x30 tent has been in use now for almost 3 years and the wind has taken its toll on some of the support structure to the point safety is a concern.   A tent is vital to our setup as it offers shade in the summer and offers a place to get warm in the winter.  It also allows us to serve no matter what the weather is.   This ministry has not missed a month in 3 years and has been able to serve in the rain and snow due to having the use of a tent.      We are looking to purchase a 20x40 heavy duty tent to replace the one we have now.  Again, this ministry operates 100% off of donations so this page is being setup to help us raise the required funds needed to secure a new tent which will inturn help us to help those in need each month.  Check out our page on FB.
