Fighting Breast Cancer

Donation protected
My sister, Kelly Balding has been diagnosed with stage IIIA breast cancer. It is shock that has really rocked our family. Kelly had a double mastectomy and also several lymph nodes removed. She had begun chemotherapy and seems to develop every possible side effect and symptom from the cocktail of drugs she is receiving to fight the cancer. She became so sick after ...the first chemo session that the her second treatment was delayed by a couple of weeks.

Chemo was followed by radiation which was an ordeal that while life saving is something I would never wish on anyone.

Unfortunately, the health issues have continued for two years now.  Kelly has been back in the hospital with dangerous blood clots and is still facing another surgery based on the cancer risk she faces for cervical or ovarian cancer.

I have always had health coverage and did not realize how tough it is to find care and navigate through the paperwork to get the Medicaid coverage needed to save her life. Kelly owns a small business and has always worked incredibly hard to be self reliant. When business is tough she goes out and gets a job waiting tables to make her bills. Now finding her way through the mountain of medical bills on top of fighting the cancer has been a huge challenge.

If all goes according to plan, she will be able to work again after her next surgery.  It has been an excruciating two years of pain, procedures, and looking forward to the end of this ordeal.

Family and friends have all stepped up and helped in many ways. Kelly has told me the blessings she has received from the people in her life have overwhelmed her. I am asking if you feel led to do so that you make a contribution to Kelly's medical expenses through this fund. Kelly is on Facebook (Kelly Balding) and would appreciate any kind wishes or prayers sent her direction.

I have been humbled by watching my sister suffer these past many months. She is a truly lovely person inside and out (with her pretty curly hair or without after chemo). This has made everything in life seem really small compared to health and those you love. I really just so dearly want her to survive this ordeal and have the rest of her life in front of her. I simply love her very much and pray she gets past this. Thank you for those of you who take the time to read this.
