The Project

I am about to go on a journey and I would like to ask you to go along with me. I have been truly moved and inspired by hearing stories and reading articles about our American veterans. It is estimated that 22 veterans take their own lives each day as a result of PTSD. I’ve seen news stories about how some vets are struggling to find jobs. Others talk about veterans who are living on the street. The men and women who have served to protect our country deserve more. This has inspired me to start this project and I would like to ask for your help.

The goal of this project is to help veterans transition from military to civilian life. It will consist of a voluntary, two-year program. The idea is to help bridge the gap between a structured, military lifestyle to a completely independent life. During this time we will provide:

       Housing for veterans and their families
       Employment and job training
       Assistance finding employment ourside the program
       Assistance with educational and VA programs
       Support network for veterans

The Dogs

I’m inspired by stories where a veteran’s life has been changed by a support dog to help with PTSD. Another major component of this program will focus on service dogs. We plan to collaborate with rescue organizations who train dogs to assist vets with PTSD. We will also encourage the participants of this program to volunteer with animal rescue organizations in the community.

The Money

The money raised through this campaign is just the beginning. It will be used to build the infrastructure of our organization. As we move forward, we will need to file paperwork for incorporation and for our non-profit status. We will also need to set up computer systems for accounting, donor registration, social media, and much more. Once all this is in place, we can begin fundraising and applying for grants that will make this program work.
