Send a Champ to California

There is an amazing 4th Grader at my school who has mastered the braille reading code. He reads with speed, accuracy and comprehension. He is cheerful and enthusiastic to learn new things. He is currently dealing with the loss of his remaining sight.

A few months ago, he attended the State Braille Challenge in Boston, MA and won! His hard work has earned him a place in the 2014 National Braille Challenge in Los Angeles, CA. He is one of only 60, out of more than 1,000 contestants nationally who qualified for the final round. He has been invited to stay for two nights at the beautiful Universal Hilton Hotel near Universal Studios. He will attend a Welcome Reception on Friday, the Braille Challenge on Saturday which will be followed by an exciting Awards Ceremony.

We are trying to raise funds to help with the travel expenses for himself, his mom and brother. We would also like to be able to allow him to enjoy himself while he is there, so we would also like to raise a little fun money for him to use while in Los Angeles.

This trip is a once in a lifetime experience for our student. This will be the first major trip he has taken. It will also be an opportunity for him to compete nationally. We are so proud of how far he has come and can not wait to see how much he will continue to grow!
