Paws Up For Nettle and Devon!

You might know Devon through any of a whole bunch of wonderful pathways, from the deep woods of northern Wisconsin, to a rally on the streets of Pittsburgh - and if you know Devon, you know her sweet, trusty pitbull pal, Nettle. Nettle is a vital, grounding companion - she offers Devon a peaceful, loving snuggle and a break when things get tough.

This week, Nettle suddenly got very sick - she ruptured a disc in her back, causing complete paralysis of her body from the middle of her back down to her tail. The only way to help Nettle was back surgery - which offers an excellent chance at recovery and a return to Nettle-style running and playing. However, the recovery period will be several months, and she will have to stay in her crate, get help going to the bathroom, and take pain medicine. Basically, Nettle will require constant care. During Nettle's recovery period, Devon will likely have to miss several days of work - which means losing income.

We want to see Nettle's tail up and wagging soon! We're asking for the community's help with Nettle's surgery bills, and also to help Devon out a little bit with some days she will likely have to miss work. Anyone who knows Devon knows how much of herself she gives to the community - through her organizing work, and throuh her neverending generosity and devotion to her friends, family, and community. There aren't many of us who haven't been touched by her caring generosity and selflessness at some point - let's all come together to give back to our pals Devon and Nettle, as they've given us all so much.
