Becky Reiter Berry's Medical Bills
Becky was diagnosed with Metastatic Malignant Melanoma Stage III. There was no primary site (no mole or lesion) ever found and it went straight to her lymph nodes in the right groin. It was only detected by Becky feeling a lump. Becky has made multiple trips to MD Anderson for surgery, treatments and rounds of radiation therapy since November 2013. In February 2014, she went back for Post-Op treatment and while there, she was admitted to MD Anderson with severe head, neck and back pain and was told she had meningitis and stayed in hospital for a week. Due to her lymph nodes being removed, she is now being treated every day for Lymphedema (swelling), which will continue the remainder of her life. This consists of lymph massages, wraps, ordering a compression pump if insurance will help pay for it, and compression hose to wear 23 hours a day. She will continue to travel to MD Anderson every 3 months for the next 2 years for CT Scans, blood work and checkups. After 2 years, if all stays clear, she will then return every 6 months for checkups. Becky is fortunate to have insurance, but her rare cancer and treatments have caused her an excessive amount of out-of-pocket expenses (co-pays, deductibles, hotels, etc.). At this point, Becky's out-of-pocket expenses are at $15,000 and growing. Becky has such a big heart that if we raise more than she needs to meet her expenses, she would gladly like to "Pay It Forward" to help someone in their time of need.
