My name is Angel O'Reilly and In August of 2016, When I was 17, years old I had my first brain surgery and I was diagnosed with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, an extremely rare type of cancer, especially for adults.  I underwent 3 types of chemotherapy, from September, 2016-Februrary, 2017. It seemed like every thing was going well, until Janurary of 2018. when another mass had started growing on my brain. At first my doctor was going to just keep a close eye on it, but after a couple of weeks it kept growing and eventuallly there were 2 masses. We thought it would be best to undergo another surgery, which happened on July 5th,2018. When I got the results back, it ended up being the same type of cancer, and my doctor reccommended not going through chemotherapy again, as it was too hard on my system and instead suggested radiation. In the United  States, as they offer a more targeted radiation treatment that is less invasive to parts of my brain. I applied to recieve international healthcare, and the Quebec government has graciously accepted me to go to Philadelphia and cover my medical costs to recieve proton radiation there. I will be starting this treatment on September 24th and will end on November 8th. Due to the fact that I will not be residing at the hospital for these treatments, these funds will be used to aide with transportation to and from the hospital, food and basic necessities to help my stay be more comfortable. I have a great support system, although my family will not be able to stay for the whole time in which I will be recieving my treatment. During my spare time, I would like to explore my home away from home and get to know the city. We are very optimistic that this treatment is the best option for me at this time, and are hoping that this will keep the cancer away.
