We've Lost Everything

Donation protected
Over three years ago, my family traveled abroad to my parent’s home country of Pakistan. My father was a kidney patient and still went because family is very important to us. Days before our departure back to the US, he got food poisoning and was hospitalized. This further weakened his kidneys to the point where he developed pneumonia and was put on a ventilator, which is when he suddenly passed away— on the exact date of our flight back to the US. Little did we know that the unexpected funeral expenses and an extended stay in a foreign country were just the beginning of our financial troubles.

My father and his partner owned a convenience store in which he handled the logistics while his partner handled the physical labor due to him becoming too weak because of his kidneys. After his death, his partner stole the rest of the business from my mother and I, taking away our only source of livelihood, leaving us with absolutely nothing. Out of desperation, my mother-- a housewife with no experience-- filed a lawsuit with whatever money we had at the time. The only attorney we could afford made very critical mistakes in our case, resulting in a small settlement--  which after legal fees were paid, ended up being less than what we began with.

My mother began to take on many jobs since then: juggling house chores, taking care of me, my physically dependent grandparents who also lived with us, and struggling financially to keep us all afloat. We began living paycheck to paycheck, constantly asking for money when we fell behind on bills and our mortgage.

Fast forward to 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit us really hard. We lost my grandmother in February, I was laid off from my job early in March, and have been supporting us all with the little unemployment benefits I would receive, which are now coming to an end.

My grandfather is handicapped and completely physically dependent on my mom. With her being his full-time caretaker and my minimal unemployment benefits, we do not have enough to make ends meet. We now have had to put our home up for sale, sell all of our furniture, move-in with relatives with whom we do not have a good relationship with, who are also in a similar financial situation as well.

Our home is the last thing we have from my father. We have lost everything else. I know how much this home means to my mom, she always prays for a miracle that can save it. This is why I've created this Gofundme page. I have witnessed my mother go through an intolerable amount of hardship that none of us expected throughout these past few years. The very least she deserves is to be able to keep a roof over her head. I want to show her that miracles can happen.

We have 3 weeks to reach our goal and save our home. Please help in whatever way you can.
