Erica's journey

Donation protected

The Circle City Hygiene Forum was established in 2009 by Dr. Michael Edwards. Erica Peiffer Hofmann has been part of this group as long as anyone can recall.

Erica had been a hygienist for 13 years. For the past 3 years Erica had experienced headaches, tiredness and neck pain like we all experience from the many odd positions we find ourselves working in throughout the long days. But on May 26th 2020, Erica received a phone call that changed her life. She had recently had an MRI and they were calling to tell her they had found a tumor. Erica was shortly thereafter diagnosed with Choroid Plexus Papilloma. (The Choroid Plexus is responsible for producing your cerebral spinal fluid) The production of spinal fluid was blocked by this tumor which would then cause her brain to be displaced into her spinal cord. This lemon sized tumor was removed and thankfully found to be benign. This is an extremely rate condition typically found in adolescents. The doctors at Northwester Memorial Hospital of Chicago led by Dr. Mathew Tate masterfully performed the surgery to allow her to now focus on her recovery!

As of August 2021 Erica is grateful for the love and support she has received as she continues to teach herself how to walk and work on her fine motor skills.

As a group, I would be honored to work toward taking some of the burdens off of Erica's shoulders and that of her family. I know as a community we can make a difference for her through donations and sending her happy and healing thoughts.
