The Brown Family Recovery Fund

Donation protected
So many stories of heartbreak and heroism have come from the massive storm that wrecked havoc through Pensacola, Florida the night of Tuesday, April 29, 2014, but one of those stories is very personal for me because it is that of my friend and co-worker, Sabrina Brown, a Special Education teacher at Escambia Westgate School. She spent a night of terror as the flood waters rushed into her house during the early morning hours. As she rushed around her home, waking her 3 children and grabbing what little she could, her husband swam through flood waters to rescue his niece and nephew next door.  He went back to save his sister's Labrador Retriever and then both families swam from their homes and loaded 5 kids, 4 adults, and 2 dogs into the bed of a truck.  The families were forced to evacuate their homes in the middle of torential rain, thunder, and lightening and watch as their belongings were overtaken by the flood waters.  To reach their homes the next day, they had to take boats and they discovered that the septic tanks backed up into both of the homes, contaminating everything. They have truly lost everything and did not have flood insurance, so their road to recovery will be a long one.  All funds will go directly to helping them start over, so please help support their recovery!
