"Help Save Elizabeth's Smile"

 On the evening of April 26, 2014 over 2,500 people were enjoying the citywide ride in Houston known as Critical Mass. About 15miles into the ride one of the veteran rider's went down near the intersection of Kirby and Shepherd with Memorial drive and no pulse could be found. Despite not knowing this rider and being told 911 had been called Elizabeth could not continue riding with a clear conscious knowing no one there knew CPR and chose to stop and render aid. Despite heroic efforts by Elizabeth and all parties involved they were only able to temporarily resuscitate the fallen rider. She stayed by his side and continued to administer CPR until Houston EMS arrived to take over.

 Sadly not only did this man not survive his injuries, but Elizabeth herself encountered a medical emergency after completing the ride. As she and her friends were passing through Memorial Park around 10:30pm she was forced to come to an immediate stop to avoid colliding with another cyclist. As a result she and the bike flipped over the front wheel landing on her face. She bit through her upper lip and fractured + dislocated her front teeth. Her friends rushed her to the emergency dentist but the damage done is too severe and she will loose at least 1 if not both of her front teeth in the upcoming weeks. She was spared any further head trauma by her helmet, which she wears religiously.

 As a full time nursing student and part time employee at a quick service food establishment she cannot afford the dental surgery needed to fix and replace the teeth. We hope to fundraise enough using this page that she can at least get the one tooth that is completely fractured fully extracted and replaced so she can continue with her studies without the pain from the exposed root of the tooth. Currently she cannot even eat solid foods because of the pain. She's shown she would do anything for her fellow riders and deserves a break.
