Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

My husband Patrick Conley was recently diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis). What began with a loss of sensation in  his lower extremities, progressed to him collapsing because he could no longer control his legs. At the ER, the diagnosis was made when lesions were visualized on his brain and spine.  There is a treatment that costs $50,000 that involves flying to Russia, eradicating his entire immune system, and rebuilding it from scratch - free of  the cells that have learned to attack his central nervous system. He just got out of active duty in the United States Army and joined the National Guard, so that he could pursue schooling for Nursing.  It is an unexpected and unfortunate turn of events that highlights how difficult our healthcare system in the United States makes it for people to  receive the care they need. The same treatment in the US is $150,000. The other option is a  lifetime of injecting himself with medications three times a week and risking flare-ups that could paralyze him. The treatment is best performed sooner than later; if you haven't heard of  it, multiple sclerosis means "multiple scarring" because these lesions form scars on the nervous system that block signals from the brain, and thus daily functions that we take for granted. We are trying to raise $55k for the treatment, the expenses to fly him to Russia, and the care that is going to be required (quarantine) afterward. He served this country loyally, does not drink, and has never used drugs. He lives a  healthy and active life, and has never asked for help with anything until now.
