Fight the Fight w/ Shirley and Kosta

Three weeks ago on a morning not much different from most mornings we got the news that Shirley Melachrinoudis, my mom, has aggresive breast cancer. It happened, that thing that you never think, or always hope that it will never happen to you or someone you love. This is a fight, a fight that Shirley (mom) is ready to fight.
Most people who know Shirley love her. She is always smiling and always positive. She is ready to give a hug to anyone who needs it and often feels guilty for leaving without giving you one. She is kind, tender, and a wonderful person to be around. All of her friends know her as full of life and always thinking about the positive. Shirley is one of the most positivie people I know and even through all of the tests and procedures her outlook is positive and her spirits are high. Every story that she has told during this jouney has been one of a grateful heart for having the opportunity to learn so much and experience "such wonderful people and the power of God." Shirley is most definately a light in any room that she occupies.
Shirley will start chemo soon to shrink the mass and then go through her mastectomy surgery. Shirley is positive and ready to take this battle head on. We are standing behind my Mom and fighting this fight with her and ask you to join us in this battle. There are two ways that you can help. 1) Pray, and pray a lot. 2) Help us lower the financial burden this will place on her husband Kosta and her 16 year old daughter Elizabeth (my little sister).
