My dear friend Diane Schmidt has been suddenly stricken with brain cancer.  Diane recently discovered she had a brain tumor after being in an accident which was caused by a loss of vision in one of her eyes.  While doctors have removed the majority of the tumor, unfortunately it's malignant and very aggressive.  She starts Chemo and radiation treatment as soon as she heals from surgery, all of which is very expensive.  Di is in business for herself, she runs a small dog walking and pet sitting business. She doesn't have the funds that will be needed for all of her treatment and care and she has very little family, none here in Texas.

Di left corporate America several years ago to devote her time to her true passion, which is animals.  After Katrina, she went on two rescue missions to New Orleans to help save countless animals.  Her first trip was with the Humane Society of the US, she spent two weeks searching for, feeding, and rescuing stray animals; her second trip was with Best Friends Animal Society for another two weeks of helping these poor, tragic dogs and cats.

In 2006, Best Friends Animal Society reached out to Di again to help with the war zone traumatized Lebanon Dogs. Best Friends had airlifted 300 dogs & cats out of Beirut, set up temporary kennels at their Sanctuary in Utah and brought in volunteers to work the kennels and help prepare them for adoption.  Di's spent the last several years involved in promoting humane legislation, rescue, foster and rehoming stray animals. She's been an active volunteer and foster Mom with Operation Kindness. She's a constant advocate to bring more awareness to the public to stop animal abuse and adopt homeless pets.

Now Di needs our help.  Would you please find it in your heart to donate whatever you can afford and share this request with others that you know?  Thank you so much for your help, with your help Di can continue make a difference to so many.
