Ni hao! My name is May Kim and I am a third-year Political Economy student at UC Berkeley. During my freshman year, I became involved in a campus ministry called Korea Campus Crusades for Christ (KCCC) and began serving as a disciple-maker this year. Last year as a Yebi Soonjang (Disciple-maker-in-training), God revealed to me the people who were so close to knowing Him yet so far. While talking to the people at Berkeley, it was heartbreaking to see that people took the freedom of religion for granted on my campus. With a mild interest in politics, East Asia stuck out to me because of the oppressive political climate. While the presence of underground churches are not uncommon in other parts of the world, I was shocked to learn that in terms of numbers, East Asia has the 7th largest Christian population in the world, with over 67 million believers. Keep in mind that these are official numbers"”not counting those who are unable to profess their faith. Various sources put the actual number to be over 85 million people. Despite the large numbers, God still needs workers to reach those who do not have the opportunity to even hear His name. The sheer number of believers prove that the harvest is plentiful within this country, and I want to be one of His workers. This summer I have the opportunity to go to East Asia with KCCC to Taiyuan University. There, my mission teammates and I will be sharing about the limitless love of God that may be unheard of in this country. As I get closer to the end of my college years, God reminds me that college students are the closest people to the "real world" without actually being in it. That being said, any and every large-scale change starts on a college campus. As I do my part to "go to the ends of the earth", I know God will be faithful and bring about a movement that no government can ignore. Although I have responded in faith and made a short time commitment, I need toraise $3450 by May 20 to cover the cost for transportation, food and other accomodations. I cannot do this missions trip alone and am looking for those who would like to join me through prayers and financial support.
