Help our Mom Get to the Mayo Clinic

On June 16, 2014 I will travel with my mother to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN searching for answers. For the last 23 years my mother has suffered from constant, painful and debilitating migraines. It began when my brother and I were only 1 and 2 1/2 years old.  Over the years we have seen my mother pass out from the pain of her migraines hundreds of times, in the driveway at home, parking lot of grocery stores, at the top of the stairs at home. She loses the ability to speak, does not remember who her family members are, and often looks like she has had a stroke. She has visited countless neurologists, and experimented with several medications. Nothing ever seems to work! We learned to cope with this over the years, to us it became normal. More recently she has begun to have seizure like symptoms. My brother and I came home from college for break, and I witnessed the seizure for the first time. I was TERRIFIED. I screamed for my dad, and when he got to the bedroom his response was "Oh, she does that now." But for my brother and I, this is not normal anymore. We are looking for answers! We want our mother to have the best life possible, and being kept in bed more days than not because of the pain of her migraines is not O.K. anymore. She is afraid to get up during the day when no one is home because she might pass out and severely hurt herself. What if she falls down the stairs? Or is trying to cook lunch or dinner at home alone and passes out? Her fear and her pain continue to have an impact on her life, and enough is enough. We are hoping that by traveling to Minnesota to visit the Mayo Clinic will finally provide us some answers. So, what if they cannot determine the cause of her migraines? What if they don't have medication that can make the migraines stop? What if there is no medicine that can get her out of a cluster of headaches? At least we try. And we're asking for your help! We are swallowing our pride, and looking for help to make this trip. The cost of airline tickets is very expensive for 2 people to fly to Minnesota. Any donation that you make will be spent towards medical expenses, travel, and our stay in Minnesota. Please help us help our mother.

We've spent our life helping others through difficult times, and we promise that we will continue to pass the generosity that we receive on to others.
