Dear Friends,
My mom Jan Vieira, my best best friend on earth, was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in July of 2012. The news was obviously devastating as she is truly the heart and soul of our family. As with any cancer diagnosis, we knew we were in for a fight, but we were yet unaware of exactly how this journey would unfold. After a round of chemo and radiation, which she sailed through with flying colors and a smile on her face, we thought we were in the clear.
Fast forward two years and at 6:30 PM on April 17th, my mom received the dreaded phone call...a full body scan revealed the unimaginable. Her cancer has spread to a variety of surrounding organs. My mom is literally in for THE FIGHT for her life! We are not wasting any time getting her the best care available at MD Anderson and will immediately be making constant trips to Houston.
As many of you know, my precious mom is a 5th grade math teacher at Bell Manor Elementary and loves her job more than anything. The travel back and forth to Houston, and the entire process, is going to be costly to say the least. My mom has told me verbatim she not ready to go and she's prepared to fight!!! We want to be with her every step of the way on the biggest challenge she will ever face in this lifetime. Your prayers, donations, love and support would mean the absolute world to us.
