Anna's Lyme Disease treatment fund

My wife Anna has been sick most of her life but has always been vibrant and strong despite not knowing what was wrong with her. Her zest for life is amazing and she's always worked hard in spite of serious physical limitations as both a housecleaner and a skilled jeweler. I have always been inspired by her indefatigable spirit and so are others close to Anna.

We've all noticed a gradual decline in Anna's energy and vitality over the past five years. More alarmingly, in the past two years Anna has battled anemia, severe knee pain, and all over skin rash that she is still coping with. In 2014, at the urging of her friends she sought out an M.D. who has treated Lyme Disease in Sacramento, CA. In February she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and a co-infection (very common with Lyme) called Babesia - which is in the malaria family of parasites - just to give you an idea of what this poor gal is struggling with. Sadly, someone as strong as Anna is in her greatest hour of need right now.

With a diagnosis has come peace of mind and a plan of action. It has also brought the realization that Anna has had Lyme Disease almost all of her life. Thirty-plus years of unrestrained bacteria and parasite growth causes severe damage to the body and is also extremely hard to treat. Treatments for the Lyme and Babesia began in early April, several antibiotics (to be taken long term) herbal remedies, severe dietary restrictions, and plenty of rest. It is likely to be six months or longer before she sees any improvement and her doctor has given her just a 50% chance of getting better. Part of treatment of Lyme Disease also includes Herxheimer reactions, which means that you feel worse due to the killing off of the Lyme bacteria before you feel better. Because of this Anna has to quit her housecleaning job and scale back significantly on her jewelry making due to the extreme fatigue and body pain. Like most working families a loss of income is a serious blow and we're currently unable to pay for our living expenses and the treatments that could help make Anna well. We have begun the paperwork for a disability claim but it's going to be at least six months before we get any answers.

I have set up this page to help my wife Anna with medical and living expenses while she undergoes Lyme Disease treatment and, for the first time in her life, potentially achieve the basic quality of life that we all take for granted. I cannot think of a person who deserves it more. Anything you can donate to reach our goal of $6000 would be truly appreciated.
