A tisket, a tasket:What Red Door found at the door on Saturday wasn't a basket but a cardboard box with a mother rabbit and 9 baby bunnies! We like to say there is always room for one more, but 10 new rabbits? The day before Easter?!
Of course, we took them in"”even though we are out of room! The mother is named Daffodil and we will be naming the 9 babies soon. One of them needs to be named Energizer! (See our video.)
These rabbits had an uncertain"”and probably unhappy"”future ahead of them until we took them in. But their arrival has placed an unexpected financial burden on Red Door.
Can you help us pay for their care & vet bills? They will need 10 exams, 10 fecal tests, 10 parasite treatments and 10 spays/neuters"”plus salads, hay and litter. It will be about 4 months until the babies are old enough to be fixed.
We will be posting weekly baby bunny videos. You can watch them grow!
Red Door specializes in rescuing, sheltering & adopting house rabbits. But we also help out cats, dogs, chickens and ducks. We are a no-kill, primarily cageless shelter in Chicago. We are a 501(c) organization.
