Grady's Journey to Stem Cell Transplant

As many of you know, Grady has been sick and going downhill for the last 4 years. In March of 2012, he was diagnosed with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia. Waldenström's is an extremeley rare type of blood cancer. He did his first round of chemo Spring of 2012. His cancer numbers went down after the chemo, but he continued to go downhill and have heart problems. He completed another round of chemo in the fall of 2013, with the same results. His heart was still getting worse. After that round of chemo, he was diagnosed with Amyloid, an extremely rare protein that invades soft tissue. This is what is causing his heart failure. In April of 2014 Grady and Dana went to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to see if there was anything that could be done. They saw two amazing doctors there. The doctors informed them that Grady's only chance for survival is a stem cell transplant. As you can imagine, Grady and Dana already owe/spent thousands of dollars on his medical bills. We are trying to raise money for their trip to MN. They have to be in MN for 6 weeks. The goal is to cover the cost of the trip. We are itemizing the cost, so that you can see where the money is going. We have built in a cushion because the cost could change depending on airfare, housing, etc. We are asking our friends and family to please help Grady and Dana in their greatest time of need. Any money raised over the cost of the trip will go towards the quickly rising medical bills.
