ODYSSEY OF THE MIND
WORLD FINALS SPONSORSHIP

Ames, Iowa
May 28-31, 2014

The Ramay Junior High School OM Structure Team, consisting of Penelope Starr-O'Berski, Nico Bridges,Walter Ferguson, David Freeman, Henry Halsell, Thomas Poulsom and Will Phillips (not pictured), has qualified to compete in the 2014 WORLD FINALS by winning 1st place in the Arkansas State Competition. This international competition, to be held May 28-May 31 on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, will bring together teams from across the U.S. and more than 20 foreign countries to compete for the OM World Championship. We need your help! By May 15th, the Ramay OM Team needs to have raised $3200 for travel and competition expenses.

Started in 1979, Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program for student teams from kindergarten through college (read all about it at www.odysseyofthemind.com). Each year, five new competitive problems are presented for the teams to select. The "Structure" problem requires teams to design and build a tower of balsa wood and glue weighing up to 18 grams that is in at least 3 pieces without a continuous line of support from top to bottom. The structure is tested at the competition with the goal of holding as much weight as possible. At the same time, team members present an original skit to the judges and audience using team-made props and set. At the Arkansas State competition the FHS team's structure held 90 pounds, which was the best in their division! The teams will also compete in a spontaneous problem-solving competition at the World Finals.

Can you help us with this great opportunity? Whatever amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated"”it really does add up! We truly appreciate your support.
