Jamal’s Road To Recovery

On August 12, 2019, 10 year old Jamal Hussein suffered a traumatic brain injury after being struck by a vehicle on Sabattus Street in Lewiston, Maine. After receiving emergency, life-saving surgery at Central Maine Medical Center, Jamal was transferred to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland for ongoing care.
Strong in their faith, Jamal’s parents (Ikran & Abdikadir), his extended family, and many friends have relied on prayer to help them through this difficult time. They are by his side day and night, celebrating all of the recovery milestones, trying to absorb all the information being provided by the medical staff, and patiently awaiting his return to consciousness.
While his likelihood of survival is high, and doctors believe it is just a matter of time before he regains consciousness, his recovery is a marathon and will require substantial long-term, medical treatment, and home accommodations to meet his needs. All of which would be financially devastating for any family.
Like Jamal, his family is proud, humble, hardworking and would never want to ask anyone for anything - so I am making the ask for them (with their permission). If there is anything you can do to help relieve some of the financial burden for them it would mean the world to everyone.
Jamal is one of those boys that you fall in love with the moment you meet him, his smile lights up the room, he is always offering to help someone, and is so kind and compassionate to everyone he meets, he is a remarkable big brother and we pray for his recovery.
Anything you can do to help will be deeply appreciated and 100% of it will go directly to the family to help them with expenses.
