My 41 year old son Jeff was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in October 2013 after not feeling well for years. Like a lot of men he put off going to the doctor until the pain and discomfort was more than he could bear. He was referred to the Oregon Health Sciences University immediately. We were told it was a life or death situation and he would need to start radiation and chemotherapy as soon as possible. He had six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy five days a week. Every other Monday he sat at the cancer clinic for 4-5 hours receiving a "mega" dose of chemo. Five days a week he traveled a total of three and a half hours per day for his treatments. He was unable to work during this time. He had surgery on April 1st, 2014 to remove the tumor. The surgeon is confident she was able to remove all of the cancer. After six weeks of recovery from the surgery he will have to follow up with 7 more "mega" doses of chemotherapy. He will be traveling a total of three and a half hours every other Monday for these treatments.

He is a single father of three children, a 17 year old son, a 13 year old son and a 10 year old daughter. He has tried to stay positive for his children throughout his illness, treatment and surgery. They are his reason for living!
