Help Liam Fight Cancer
Donation protected
My five year old daughter has a friend, his name is Liam. Liam is the kind of boy that will scream your name across a room so you notice him waving at you. He is the kind of boy who makes you smile just because his smile is so big. People say those things when people fall ill, but for all those who know Liam, he is the happiest boy you will ever meet. This past year, Liam’s parents, Laura and Kevin, received the most devastating news about their boy. He has brain cancer. The sweet, energetic and goofy Liam began losing his balance, had difficulty breathing and swallowing and got to the point where he was unable to walk. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor in his brain but the surgeon was unable to resect the full tumor due to the difficult location. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments and we just received news that the tumor has reduced in size. The treatments are working. They have a long road ahead of them with over a year worth of treatments remaining, but there is hope. He is winning this battle.
Laura and Kevin are hard working parents both having full-time jobs. They are the absolute last people to ask for help and are even shy about receiving food that their friends make for them. When I think about what they are going through, it breaks my heart because I see the sadness in their eyes. I see the stress in trying to coordinate childcare for their other two year old son. I see them alternating work schedules to always be with Liam during his times in the hospital and treatments. And just like you, I see my children, I see that this could very well have been my family and we could be the ones living this nightmare. While Kevin and Laura have good jobs, some weeks, Liam’s chemotherapy medications cost in excess of $800 after insurance. It is my goal to release some of the pressure they are burdened with while fighting this disease with their son.
I am asking that we open our hearts and help Liam’s family. Help them be there for him and lessen the financial burden this disease plaques people with. Let’s help in any way we can to bring back the energy and silliness that Liam has to bring to this world. Any funds collected that exceed that of Liam’s care will be donated to the hospital where Liam receives his treatments as to help another child in his position.
With all my heart…thank you.
