Swim for Shelby

Shelby Rowe,(my second cousin)was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) at age 19 and now suffers from advanced stages of this desease .
Swim for Shelby(SFS) is my way of raising awareness about ALS and raising money for Shelby who is now almost 23.
I will be participating in the Lowcountry Splash on May 30th.
This is a 2.4 mile swim in the Charleston Harbor.
It will be my third year swimming in this event
and raising money for SFS.
Over the past three years,Shelby has progressively lost the use of her muscles. She now requires a ventilator to breathe,a feeding tube to receive nutrition and a nurse or family member to provide 24/7 care.
Despite this progressive disease,Shelby's mind is fully active.
Money raised will go to traveling expenses for Shelby's trip to Florida.
The family travels in an RV equipped with hospital-like amenities for Shelby's care & comfort.
Shelby loves the Florida sunsets,watching dolphins & feeling the warm sun on her skin.
