My name is De'Asia Graham and I am currently attending Dickinson Fine Arts Academy. Next year I will be a freshman at Washington High School in hopes to become a Veternarian. I am so excited to have been nominated for academic recognition as a Scholar and possibly respresenting the State of Indiana at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders to be held Novemeber 14, 15, and 16 of 2014 in Washington, DC.
It is a highly selective national program honoring academically superior high school students dedicated to the service of humanity in medicine. I was ONE of THREE Scholars from Dickinson Fine Arts Academy to be recognized by my teachers, counselors or principle.
If I am able to raise the funds of $2100, I could meet winners of the Nobel Prize, prominent medical school deans, leaders of medicine and medical futurists at this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I also will then be eligible to compete for a full medical school scholarship (up to $185,000 of tutuion).
During the Congress, we will view surgery and have an opportunity to submit questions for the surgeon to answer in real time during the procedure. We will learn about state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and be inspired by world changing researchers, futurists and technologists. We will make long-term friendships with those who share the same dreams and passions "“ other young people who want to make a difference in the world and devote their future to saving lives and being part of the exponential advances in medicine that never before could have been imagined.
